Horse of the week

Bekommen Sie einen Eindruck des echten Vista Verde Western Gefühls. In einer besonderen Woche, jeweils Anfang Juni oder September, entführen wir Sie in die Welt des Cattle Drives, also des Viehtriebs, und führen Sie in alle Arbeiten ein, die rund um diesen Trieb zu bewältigen sind. Im ersten Teil dieser Woche machen Sie sich mit Ihrem Pferde vertraut. Sie werden Trailritte unternehmen, Stunden auf dem Reitplatz bekommen und einen speziellen Kurs mit unserem eigenen Pferdeflüsterer Orval Bedell durchlaufen. Den Rest der Zeit können Sie mit Rancharbeit verbingen, aber natürlich können Sie auch einfach entspannen, einfach köstlich speisen oder unseren zahlreichen weiteren Aktivitäten teilnehmen. Dann, gegen Ende der Woche, muss die Herde den Elk River entlang getrieben werden. Eine unvergessliche Erfahrung. Der Viehtrieb ist daher nur etwas für Erwachsene! Get a taste of the real West - Vista Verde style. For a special week either in early June or September we'll literally show you the ropes on how to prepare for and perform a cattle drive. During the early part of the week you will get comfortable with your horse through trail rides, arena sessions and a special horsemanship clinic by our own "Horse Whisperer," Orval Bedell. The rest of the time you can enjoy our wide variety of ranch activities, as well as relax in wonderful accommodations in a picturesque setting, and dine on fabulous food. Over a couple of days toward the end of the week, you'll have to herd our cows down the Elk River Valley to their new home. It's a truly memorable experience with just enough roughing it to really get the flavor of cowboy life. Availability is limited during these moo-ving weeks. Weder Küchenchef Jonathan noch Ihr Pferd werden dies verstehen oder verzeihen.

A number of our guests have requested better Internet access. For some, we know that flies in the face of BEING ON VACATION. For others, however, keeping up with your e-mail is a way of life. As one guest put it, "If we can afford to stay here, we cannot afford to be out of touch with our office." We now have a small "business center" located adjacent to the ranch store. We have Internet access via satellite so there will no longer be a waiting line at the phone booth.So bring on those laptops and plug in. But please don't be late for dinner or your ride! Neither Chef Jonathon or your horse will understand or forgive you.

Wie die Erwachsenen bekommt der Nachwuchs ebenso ein Pferd zugeteilt, um auch den Kindern eine innige und vertrauensvolle Bindung zum Pferd zu ermöglichen. Unsere Kinderbetreuer fangen langsam auf dem Reitplatz mit Unterrichtsstunden an, aber bald werden auch die Youngsters auf Trailritte gehen. Kinderreiten ist täglich möglich. Auch Familienausritte sind möglich. Für Kinder speziell können bieten wir Lehrmöglichkeiten für Pferhaltung und -pflege.

Just like the adults, the buckaroos ride the same horse all week, developing a loving, trusting relationship. Our Kid's Wranglers get the youngsters started in the arena, but soon move out on the trail. Kid's rides are available daily. However, family rides are a popular option. In addition to riding, kids have the opportunity to learn how to deed and groom their horses with tending the other ranch animals.

The ranch is situated on over 500 acres surrounded by the Routt National Forest and Zirkel Wilderness. The secluded setting provides a serene atmosphere perfect for an outstanding fly fishing experience. When fishing around the ranch, only an occasional fisherman may be seen on a particular day -- a wonderful situation for an angler to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
